This fall, in celebration of the return of live performance, Temple St. Clair is excited to announce her support for and collaboration with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
To celebrate Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s return to the stage, Temple St. Clair commissioned photographer Sharif Hamza to create compelling portraits of three dancers from the company: Jacqueline Green, Samantha Figgins, and Yannick Lebrun. Each of the artists is captured both in motion and at rest wearing our most iconic jewels, including the signature Rock Crystal Amulets. The portraits will be posted across New York City in celebration of Ailey’s December 2021 season at New York City Center and then will follow the Company’s 2022 tour sharing the images of these powerful and extraordinary artists.
Temple St. Clair Loves Dance
“Art is what makes us human. Dance (like jewelry) is one of our earliest art forms. It is part of our storytelling and social history,” St. Clair muses. St. Clair and her husband, a former modern dancer, are passionate supporters of the Arts, and specifically of dance.
With Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, it was love at first sight. Temple St. Clair not only remains in awe of the Ailey dancers but is also especially moved by how the Ailey mission is carried out beyond the stage. “I find the [Ailey] company’s outreach to young people tremendously inspiring and hopeful. Ailey dancers participate in school and community programs all over the country teaching workshops and performing for students who have little to no exposure to the arts. I personally feel that a life of art and creativity opens doors to opportunity, hope and possibility beyond what seems immediately apparent.”
