JEWELS OF THE WILD

ARCADIA

Our vision of natural beauty and peace expands into portraits from my journeys in Kenya. These jewels, part of the Tree of Life collection, are drawn from animals I have known and observed. Sculpted in gold, they are intimate portraits — real creatures reimagined through art and memory, bridging Arcadia’s myth with lived experience.

Gold figurines of giraffes, elephants, and rhinos, each carrying a smaller animal, on a soft green and blue background.

TEMBO

A PORTRAIT OF ONE TON, LEGENDARY SUPER TUSKER

Tembo, Swahili for Elephant is a portrait of a tusker, the rare elephant with enormous tusks that still inhabits the Amboseli ecosystem in Kenya. Elephants love to eat acacia and are often found snacking among the acacia trees. Tembo has patterns of acacia engraved across his body.

Twiga, Swahili for Giraffe is a sculptural golden portrait of a wild giraffe that TSC convened with at a watering hole in Kenya. This particular giraffe was covered by birds, and on this pendant engraved birds become the markings of the giraffe. Sources of inspiration include Armenian bas-reliefs and other memories from travel.

KIFARU

AN HOMAGE to Maxwell, A blind rhino rescued as a calf

Kifaru, Swahili for Rhino is based on an adult rhino that lives at an orphanage in Nairobi. He was found abandoned as a young calf and was blind so unable to survive in the wild. Maxwell has grown to his full size and is a gentle giant that comes when called and likes to be close to his human caretakers.
