I was as thrilled as I was honored when I heard that I was selected to be this year’s jeweler to the Swan Ball. The Swan Ball is named after the iconic swan fountain found on the grounds of the Cheekwood Estate & Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee.
Supporting Cheekwood is such a wonderful fit for me for so many reasons – my love for art, architecture and travel. The Cheek family had a love of travel and believed travel was fundamental to the education of their children. In the early 1900’s, they made annual grand tours all over the world including China and Japan. Their experiences and appreciation of these trips are reflected in Cheekwood from the Italianate “grotteschi” designs on the walls to the Aubusson tapestries.
I created a Swan ring as part of Wings of Desire from The Golden Menagerie. From that swan, others arrived in my Objet Trouvé collection in the form of a swan coin set in earrings, pendants and rings. The most recent swan in the collection is a swan amulet. All of my swans will travel with me to the Swan Ball. For this, we have created a one-of-a-kind Rose Swan Amulet in 18K rose gold set with natural pink sapphires. This will be part of the live auction during the Swan Ball.
